Melody: Burn Brighter

Shannon and Ryan celebrated their TENTH anniversary this year and Ryan gave Shannon a pretty epic gift: a custom love song written just for her. And not only did he commission the song, he actually wrote it with me! Let’s rewind…

It all started at the beginning of this year, when Ryan began coming over for secret songwriting sessions once every few weeks. We brainstormed about the beauty of marriage and his feelings for Shannon. Chords, melody, and lyrics began to take shape and Ryan carefully crafted the words he wanted to sing to his wife.

“Standing in your sunlight,
basking in your glow”

We carved out time over spring and summer to record his vocal parts, and finally the alternative rock ballad that is Burn Brighter was finished! Unity is a strong theme. Using the metaphor of light and flame throughout, Ryan crafted the message that individually, they are beautiful souls but that together, they burn even brighter.

“Joining forces, feel the flame
Melding colors one the same
and its heating up”

Ryan presented his custom love song to his bride of ten years on a beach in Maui this September. Here’s to the next ten years, my friends!
